South Dakota Equality

Eighty-three percent (83%) of South Dakotans think everyone should be treated equally with regard to employment and job opportunities – regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. Equality South Dakota has set a legislative goal of amending the Human Relations Act of 1972 to expand categories included in this nondiscrimination law. This initiative is supported by individual donors, ACLU of South Dakota and a grant from PFund Foundation. Twenty states (including our neighbor states of Iowa, Minnesota and Colorado) and the District of Columbia currently have laws making it illegal to fire someone based on their sexual orientation and 12 protect individuals based on their gender identity as well. PFund photo is a winner

A photo taken of PFund board member Donald Whipple Fox and his partner, Ricky Nolan, is the February "pick of the month" photo by the Tobacco-free Lavender Communities Healthy Living photo contest. We think Greg Grinley actually took the photo--we passed the camera aroung that day. The photo was taken at the Fall Yard Clean-up with Sven and the PFund Board auctioned off at the Cabaret last year. We were in Donald and Janet Voight's lovely yard on the most perfect October day.

PFund Cabaret Exceptional Experiences

Mayors' Art Trolley Tour takes off on a lovely June evening from Midtown Global Market in Minneapolis with Mayor Rybak, visiting several neighborhood art sites. The trolley picked up Jack Becker, executive director, Forecast Public Art, for a special side trip. Heading over to Mounds Park in St. Paul, we pick up Mayor Coleman and Christine Podas-Larson, president of PublicArt Saint Paul. Thanks to the generousity of the Mayors, Jack and Christine and Twin Cities Trolley, sixteen PFund supporters had a fabulous tour of some of the Twin Cities' most unique, interesting and important public art.

This tour was one of four Exceptional Experiences offered as part of the silent auction at the PFund Cabaret this past Spring. Watch for exciting new opportunities at the next Cabaret.
